Volkswagen ID3: one engine version and more expensive

The delivery range of the Volkswagen ID3 will look very different from 1 January 2023. The electric Volkswagen ID3 is only available with a 58 kWh battery and a 204 hp electric motor. However, the EV is available in new versions. The starting price of the Volkswagen ID3 will be almost €46,000 from 2023.

Volkswagen goes with the broom through the delivery range of the ID3. Until recently, the electric Volkswagen ID3 was available with three sizes of battery packs and three different electric motors. That will all change as of January 1, 2023.

The Volkswagen ID3 Pure with 45 kWh battery pack and 150 hp electric motor will disappear and the ID3 Pro with 58 kWh battery and 145 hp electric motor will no longer be available from 1 January 2023. Even the ID3 Pro S with 77 kWh battery and 204 hp electric motor disappears. The electric Volkswagen ID3 will soon only be available as a Pro with a 58 kWh battery and 204 hp electric motor. That means that the starting price of the ID3 increases significantly.

The price list of the Volkswagen ID3 will start from January 1, 2023 with the Pro in simply called ‘ID3’ basic trim. Volkswagen asks €45,990 for that. Previously, the ID3 Pro with this powertrain cost €39,990. Until recently, the starting price of the ID3 was €37,990. For that amount you got the ID3 Pure (45 kWh, 150 hp). From now on you can also order the Volkswagen ID3 Pro in the Life and Style versions. They cost €46,990 and €51,590 respectively. Previously, the most expensive Volkswagen ID3 was the Pro S (77 kWh, 204 hp), which was on the order books for €44,490. We are still awaiting a response from the Dutch importer if and when the Pure and Pro S powertrains will return to the ID3.

Equipment Volkswagen ID3

The Volkswagen ID3 will soon have fewer versions and will be more expensive in an absolute sense. Volkswagen does enrich the standard equipment. For example, the ID Pro, called the ‘ID3’ basic version, now has standard 18-inch alloy wheels instead of steel ones. In addition, automatic air conditioning is standard again, but it is now divided into two zones. Seat heating in the front is also standard from now on. The standard equipment also includes things like a 25.4-centimeter infotainment screen, a heated and leather-wrapped steering wheel, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, front and rear parking sensors and heated front seats.

The ID3 in Life trim has standard matrix LED headlights (IQ Light) and therefore also the LED bar in between, Park Assist Plus, a reversing camera, Keyless Access and rear privacy glass. More indulgence comes in the form of rear lights with dynamic flashing lights, automatic high beam and an anti-theft alarm. The Style adds things like ArtVelours upholstery, a panoramic glass roof, Dynamic Chassis Control, electrically adjustable front seats with memory function, an extensive AR head-up display and windscreen heating.
