Dacia Spring, beware!

With the just unveiled ID2all, Volkswagen looks ahead to an electric hatchback in the Polo segment with a starting price of just under €25,000. But it should be a little less expensive. Volkswagen also says it is working on an electric car that will cost less than €20,000. Dacia Spring, beware!
Volkswagen says it will present ten all-new electric models through 2026. Some of these newcomers are known. For example, the facelifted Volkswagen ID3 will be launched this year. That car has already been presented, but it is one of the ten newcomers. We also know that Volkswagen is launching the extended version of the Volkswagen ID Buzz this year and the ID7 is also on the roll for this year. The Volkswagen ID2all with which the men and women in Wolfsburg give a clear hint to the ID2 that will be on the market in 2025 is also one of the ten newcomers. So four out of ten are already known. We now also know more about two other new electric Volkswagens.
Volkswagen says it will come up with a new compact electric SUV in 2026, but does not release anything else about it. We think that’s a compact electric crossover based on the MEB Entry platform that will also house the ID2. The new compact electric SUV will probably become the ID2 what the T-Cross is to the Polo. According to Volkswagen, the Volkswagen ID2 will have a starting price of just under €25,000. Volkswagen says it is also working on an electric car that will cost less than €20,000.
Electric city car
Volkswagen is also not releasing anything about that small EV. We aim for the newcomer, possibly called Volkswagen ID1, to become an electric city car. Volkswagen can use it well now that the Up is out of production. Electric cars in the so-called A segment hardly exist in Europe. Dacia has the electric Spring, but no other brand in the almost deflated A-segment has an electric alternative to that little Dacia. The Spring has a starting price of €21,750 in the Netherlands. For that money you get a 45 hp electric motor and a range of 230 kilometers. For €23,400, the Spring is also available with a 65 hp electric motor.
The attached image is an early sketch of what could possibly become the future ID2.
