Volvo is renewing the plug-in hybrid ‘Recharge’ powertrain for the 60 and 90 model series. That has several advantages. Prices usually remain unchanged.

A new powertrain will be installed in the plug-in hybrid Volvo’s S60, V60, XC60 and S90, V90 and XC90. The capacity of the battery pack increases to 18.8 kWh. The range on a load current thus increases; depending on the model, this will be a maximum of 70 to 90 km. The WLTP test also shows that with the new drive technology, if you drive economically, you can reduce CO2 emissions by up to approximately 50 percent.

The electric motor on the rear axle is now more powerful, the power to the rear wheels increases by 65 percent. The power source also contributes to a better four-wheel drive. Together with the engine on the front axle, you have 257 kW / 350 hp in the Recharge T6 version, and 335 kW / 455 hp in the Recharge T8.

Fortunately, the renewal does not mean that you have to spend much more money when purchasing one of the above models. The prices of the SUV XC60 and of all 90 models remain unchanged. Only those of the sedan S60 and station wagon V60 Recharge increase by 200 euros.
