This year Watchos 12 is coming to the Apple Watch and reportedly the operating system gets a completely new design. We already know this!
Watchos 12
In a few weeks, Apple will present the biggest updates of the year during the WWDC 2025. One of those new software versions is Watchos 12. According to the usually reliable Apple expert Mark Gurman, major changes will be made to the operating system for the Apple Watch. Apple is working on a new design, which will probably be introduced at Watchos 12 later this year on the smartwatch.
It was already known that iOS 19, iPados 19 and MacOS 16 will receive a new interface. So now also Watchos 12 is being added, so we see a new design with the operating systems for the iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch. It is expected that Watchos 12 will take over many elements from Visionos. That means that we will see more transparent frameworks and that applications will receive new symbols.
More new functions
The new design in Watchos 12 should make it easier to navigate in and between applications. How exactly that happens is still unclear. In the invitation of the WWDC 2025, Apple has already hinted for the new design of iOS 19, iPados 19, MacOS 16 and Watchos 12. The arches in the invitation are transparent and seem to have been made of glass. Similar frameworks are expected in the new interface of all operating systems.
In addition to the renewed design, Apple is working on more health functions that come to the Apple Watch with Watchos 12. According to rumors, the smartwatch is expanded with a health coach. The new coach provides health and sports advice, based on the data of your Apple Watch. This way you get tips about a healthier lifestyle and how certain workouts can best perform.
Release of Watchos 12
The Apple Watch uses artificial intelligence to give these health advice. That is striking, because Apple Intelligence is not yet available on the Apple Watch. That will probably change with Watchos 12, because then Apple Intelligence finally comes to the smartwatch. Apple will present Watchos 12 in a few weeks during the WWDC. The presentation takes place on Monday, June 9 at 7 p.m. (Dutch time).
