WatchTube: Watch YouTube on your Apple Watch

Did you know that you can do much more on your Apple Watch than just track your sports performance and your sleep? You can now even watch YouTube on your Apple Watch with WatchTube. In this article you can read everything about this app.

WatchTube: the app to get YouTube on your wrist

With Apple Watch you can do a lot of things; from exercising with a huge amount of data to perfectly tracking your sleep. From time reading to watching YouTube. Hey what, watching movies on the small screen on your wrist? Yes of course! It is now possible with your Apple Watch to browse YouTube with the WatchTube app.

The great thing is, you don’t even need your iPhone nearby. In addition, you don’t have to do difficult installations or ‘jailbreak’ the Apple Watch. You can use the app watchtube download from the App Store and immediately start watching YouTube on your Apple Watch. The app requires an Apple Watch with watchOS 6 or newer.

What does it feel like to use then? The interface of WatchTube is actually exactly as you are used to from YouTube. You can go to recommended trending videos, look for new ones, or go to your library to see the videos you’ve saved.

In the settings you can also choose a specific category of videos to show on the first tab. Here you also change the subtitles or text size. The search also works smoothly; you can dictate or search with the virtual keyboard (provided you have set an English keyboard).

Unfortunately no YouTube sync on WatchTube

Don’t want to think and just watch your new favorite movies? Unfortunately that is a bit more difficult. You cannot link your WatchTube library to your YouTube account. Conversely, saved videos in WatchTube are not synced either. The app does have a solution for the latter. Scan a video with a QR code and open it on another device.

If your Apple Watch is not connected to earphones or headphones, you can still enjoy the sound of YouTube through the built-in speakers. The makers say they are working on a new version that only plays the sound of YouTube videos, without having to leave the Apple Watch screen on. In this way you can also listen to music from YouTube on your smartwatch in the future. Are you going to use this app?
