What are Ziggo Wifispots and KPN HotSpots?

KPN and Ziggo offer their customers WiFi points. Free, throughout the Netherlands and safer than public WiFi.

Ziggo says it has about 2 million public WiFi points for customers with internet in their subscription. That there are so many is because the modems of customers are used for that. It works like this: the modems broadcast two separate networks. One is for the customer. The other network is the WiFi spot. The networks are completely separate from each other. The customer is not hindered in any way by the second network. And at home, all devices always remain connected to their own Ziggo network. On the road, a device searches for Wi-Fi spots and connects to them automatically. All the Ziggo customer has to do is register the device once for WiFi spots.

KPN has more than 4500 hotspots throughout the Netherlands. In public places. Free to use for KPN customers who purchase internet or mobile internet.

The Wi-Fi spots and hotspots are many times safer than public internet. The user logs in to the network of Ziggo or KPN respectively. This makes the connection just as secure as at home. Those who have the choice, therefore, play it safe and activate the WiFi spots or hotspots.

Ziggo has an extensive step-by-step plan for setting up a laptop, tablet and smartphone. Each device that you want to connect to Ziggo Wifispots outdoors must be set up once. The step-by-step plan is on this page: Set up Ziggo Wifi spots.

KPN customers log in with their own data at a KPN Hotspot. In principle, this is a one-off, because it will automatically connect to the network later. As happens at home.
