We video call each other. Especially since the corona measures limit real contact. But what do you actually pay attention to during video calling?
Five points for attention
There are really only five really important points of attention during video calling. We’ll go to them.
1. Internet connection
Make sure you have a good internet connection. Nothing is more annoying than a faltering story and a stuck image. Prevent this by using a good internet connection. And the connection is not optimal: it sometimes makes a difference if the video does not fill the screen.
2. Camera Position
Make sure you’re in the picture. It sounds obvious, but people are sometimes only half in the picture during video calling. So get a good picture of yourself: certainly up to the shoulders. And see where the camera is on the device, so you know what to look at.
3. Background noise
Sit in a quiet place with no background noise. That vacuum cleaner, speeding traffic or screaming toddlers make that you are barely audible. If there is no escape from the ambient noise, only switch on the microphone when you are talking.
4. Background
Choose a spot with as neutral a background as possible. Then your conversation partners can focus more easily on the conversation.
5. Rules of Conduct
Some people seem to forget that they stay in the picture during video calling. It’s just a conversation! So continue to behave as you would when you actually have someone in front of you.
