The label of a (cosmetic) product says ‘aqua’ (water). What water is this exactly? Tap water? Distilled water? … Do people ever put tap water in cosmetic products at all?

I assume it is aqua purificata, or purified water.
Some cosmetic brands work with their own thermal water or spring water, e.g. Avene, Vichy, La Roche Posay, …
Tap water in itself will probably not be used, although I think it can do no harm. It also contains the necessary minerals and is also sterile.
