WhatsApp is today bringing back the old status update in the form of WhatsApp Info. However, the app update also has some other useful improvements in store.
How to use WhatsApp Info
WhatsApp version 2.17.10 is now available for iOS. The main new feature is WhatsApp Info, which is basically the old Status feature. WhatsApp has received a lot of criticism in recent weeks because the Snapchat-like WhatsApp Status was not by everyone’s taste.
That is why the line of text under your username just returns today, in the form of WhatsApp Info. Adjustment is very easy:
Set up WhatsApp Info in 3 steps
- Open WhatsApp and go to Settings;
- Tap the name of your profile at the top of the screen;
- In the next screen you can adjust the Info bar.
WhatsApp already gives you a number of Info suggestions, such as ‘At school’ or ‘In a meeting’. You can of course also come up with a status yourself. You do this by tapping on the top bar in the settings. Here you can also use emoji to spice up your WhatsApp Info. After setting up your Info Text, it will automatically appear under your username in the overview screen.
Take better pictures in the dark
However, today’s WhatsApp update does more. This way you can now play videos without downloading them completely first. While you are watching a movie, the rest can be downloaded. Handy if you have a slow internet connection and don’t want to wait until a full video is on your device.
WhatsApp’s in-app camera has also been improved. By tapping the new Moon icon you switch to a new night mode. This is intended for pictures in the evening or dark rooms. This is useful for both photos and videos to improve quality.
Finally, a new 3D Touch action has been added when editing a photo. Firmly press the crop icon to instantly crop a photo to fill the screen. You can now download the new version from the App Store.
