From now on, the dark mode for WhatsApp is available for iOS 13. You activate the dark mode as follows.

Dark mode for WhatsApp available: this is how you set it

WhatsApp developers have been working on making the app dark mode for iPhone users for a long time now. A beta version was released for testing a few weeks ago, but the feature was not yet available to the general public.

Now dark mode is available to everyone. It is only supported if you have also enabled dark mode in iOS 13. If you have already set up dark mode in iOS 13, WhatsApp will automatically take over.

How to activate dark mode in iOS 13

To set up dark mode in iOS 13:

  1. Go to your Settings;
  2. Tap ‘Display & Brightness’;
  3. Tap ‘Dark’.

The display will now be black with white letters instead of white with black letters. Do you want dark mode to only turn on after a certain amount of time? You can also set that here.

Update WhatsApp if necessary

If your app doesn’t update automatically, you can do that by following these steps:

  1. In the App Store, go to your profile by tapping your profile picture at the top right;
  2. Scroll down;
  3. Tap ‘Update’ behind WhatsApp.

Update brings dark mode and new search function

If the dark mode is turned on, you will see a dark chat list, dark speech clouds and a dark background in WhatsApp. In addition, this update also adds a new search function.

With this you can easily search for people or the content of a message. The WhatsApp update is currently being rolled out. You may not see dark mode right away, but this will change in the coming days.
