The instant messaging application does not allow you to send a message to a contact if it is not saved in your smartphone’s address book. However, there is a trick to get around this problem.
WhatsApp, the instant messaging application owned by Meta (formerly Facebook), is one of the most widely used around the world. The application is free and it allows you to send messages and call any mobile number anywhere in the world without having to put your hand in your pocket, provided you are connected to the Internet.
Although it is already very complete and very practical, the application suffers from certain limitations. It is for example not possible to use it to send a message to a number without it being saved in the address book of the smartphone, unlike a classic SMS application. At least officially, because there is a very easy trick to put in place to circumvent this limit. There she is.

1. Open your web browser
From your smartphone or PC on which WhatsApp is installed, open your web browser, then, in the address bar, type wa.me/NuméroDeTéléphone, making sure to indicate a telephone number including the country code (33 en France), followed by the mobile number without the zero, and confirm by pressing the enter key on the keyboard.
You should get a link in the format wa.me/336123456789.

2. Keep the discussion going
A WhatsApp Web window should then open with a page to redirect WhatsApp URLs to the application. You should get a message like Chat on WhatsApp with +33 6 xx xx xx xx. Then press the Continue to Chat button.

3. Send your message in WhatsApp
WhatsApp should then automatically open to a new chat with the number you provided in the URL.

You can then start your chat as you do with your usual contacts, without having to save the number in your smartphone’s address book.
