Another update for WhatsApp is coming! The messaging service regularly releases new software versions, introducing more features and important improvements. A new test version for WhatsApp shows that profiles will soon change. Every WhatsApp user has their own profile, to which your name, telephone number and any links to websites are linked.
Every user also has the option to add a profile photo in WhatsApp. The new version of WhatsApp adds another option, because you can also set a background photo for your profile. This image appears behind your profile photo when someone views your contact details in WhatsApp. You decide which photo this is, so you can choose an image from your photo library or get an image from the internet.
This is how background photos work
It is not the first time that WhatsApp has added background photos to the messaging service. The feature is already available in WhatsApp Business, where companies can set background images for business profiles. In the new test version of WhatsApp, this option is no longer limited to a business account, but all users can add a background photo to their profile.
Setting background photos works the same way as adjusting your current profile photo. Users go to their profile in WhatsApp and tap the profile photo. There you will soon be able to not only set your profile photo, but also add a background photo. This gives you more options when personalizing your profile in the messaging service. In the past we saw a similar option on Facebook, among others, where you can also select a profile and background photo.

Your profile in WhatsApp will soon get a useful function. The messaging service is working in the background on another important change, because WhatsApp will work with usernames. You now need to link a phone number to your account to use the messaging service. This will change soon, you will only be able to add a username to your profile.
It is not yet known when the background photos will become available in WhatsApp. The new feature has now been added to the test version for iOS, it usually takes a few weeks to months before WhatsApp features are rolled out to all users.
