The app in trouble
(Image: WhatsApp / Edit: OMT)
WhatsApp has become indispensable in 2021. That’s not just a theory, we have seen that with the major outage of Facebook this year. The platform was inaccessible, half of the population then no longer knew what to do. And don’t blame them, because it’s the best way to stay in touch with each other.
Yet there are certain things that consumers, even after all these years of experience, are almost all still doing wrong. In this article, we’ll discuss those things and tell you how to do it. Although you have to take some things with a grain of salt, of course
WhatsApp: 5 things everyone is doing wrong
There are a number of things that we still see going wrong when we see people using WhatsApp. So what exactly are those things? We list them for you!
#1 Completely according to your own wishes
It is noticeable that WhatsApp still looks very standard for some users. For example, there are many people who are not yet aware of the fact that you can set up the application completely to your own liking. For example, it is possible to set a background that is completely your taste. Or how about selecting a font size? It’s all possible.
In WhatsApp go to Settings -> Chats and then select for that chat background to set your own wallpaper.

#2 WhatsApp: the ideal news source!
For many people, social media is not only a convenient way to keep in touch with friends, but also to keep abreast of events around you. This does not only apply to platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, but unfortunately also to WhatsApp. Unfortunately, the platform lends itself to some really great stuff, but this isn’t one of them. There is of course nothing wrong with getting information forwarded via this route, but make sure that this does not become your only source of news.
Certainly not in technology. Then of course you have to be with your friends from WANT. (No sense of shame even those people).
#3 Group conversations like it’s nothing
WhatsApp is of course ideal to be able to arrange certain things quickly and easily. Although there are also people who simply cannot handle that responsibility. People like me for example. You know them: those people who create a group conversation for every errand. Whether it’s a present for that one friend or a holiday that can’t go on: it is not necessary to create a conversation for everything.
Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t reach these people anymore. On the contrary. Within WhatsApp it is possible to send a single message to several people at the same time. This can be done through the mailing list option. Press that option Mailing Lists, create a new list, add contacts, then tap the WhatsApp message you want to send. Voila!

#4 WhatsApp: a life without backups
In 2021 there are still people who do not backup their conversations. Of all the examples in this article, I simply understand this the least. WhatsApp is now the place where we get in touch with our friends, family and close acquaintances. Not only do we have memorable conversations stored there, but probably also a large collection of photos and videos that we want to keep. I personally wouldn’t take the chance to lose that.
Making a backup is so easy, it’s a shame not to use it. Go to Settings -> Chats -> Backup Chats. Make a copy and you’re done with Kees (or whatever your name is).
#5 A big mess
Is this necessarily wrong? No, but it does give a nice feeling to follow it. It quickly becomes chaos within WhatsApp. Group conversations that you haven’t spoken to in months, apps that have been open forever and conversations that you simply haven’t answered yet. It should be clear: the wonderful platform is not always neat.
Fortunately, I personally found the ideal way. Because yes, I’m one of those people who can be bothered by this. That is why I archive all conversations from the day before every morning, so that I only have relevant conversations on the screen. These are the conversations that are still active on that day and therefore make room for the next one the next day.

It is possible to select your conversations within WhatsApp and click the option Archiving to click. Just keep in mind that WhatsApp recently rolled out a new setting in this area. Conversations remain archived by default, so you can’t really use the feature to its full potential.
So go to Settings -> Chats -> Keep Chats Archived. Deactivate the function by moving the slider from right to left.
