Which MacBook do I have?
Most users will know the difference between the MacBook Air, MacBook Pro and normal MacBook, but Apple has released so many versions that you may have lost the overview. For example, are you going to sell or repair your MacBook, or do you want to know whether your laptop will receive the upcoming macOS update? Then it is useful to know which MacBook you have exactly.
Fortunately, it is very easy to check your MacBook model. This can be done in several ways, but the easiest way is to check it via ‘About this Mac’. To do this, follow the step-by-step plan below.
- Grab your MacBook and click on the Apple icon in the top left of the menu bar;
- Then choose ‘About this Mac’;
- After this you can see exactly which MacBook you have under ‘Overview’. In my case, this is the 13-inch MacBook Pro from 2017.
Can’t start your MacBook? Then you will find the model number of your laptop on the bottom of the device. For example, this is A1706, and you can then look up that model number via Google to find out which MacBook you own. If you are using an iMac, Mac Pro or Mac mini, you can also find the model number on the housing of the device.
