Windows 10 audio player now has an equalizer. Here’s how to use it to improve sound quality.
Windows 10 comes with Microsoft apps already installed, in particular Groove Music to listen to your audio files. In its latest evolution, the program is equipped with an equalizer that allows you to adjust the sound according to the type of music you are listening to and the type of audio device used (computer speakers, headphones or speakers). To activate this function:
1 – Launch Groove Music
Type groove in the search box at the bottom of the desktop screen, next to the Start button. Select Groove Music in the results list.
2 – Access the equalizer
- Click the gear-shaped settings icon, located in the left column.

- Then click on Equalizer in the Reading section.

3 – Set the equalizer
By default, the equalizer is in “flat” mode, ie no correction is applied to the frequencies. Click on the word Flat to access the list of predefined modes and choose the one that suits you. For example, Treble boost increase the treble while Bass Boost increases the bass.

If the presets don’t suit you, click on the little white circles corresponding to the different frequency zones and, without releasing the mouse button, drag them up or down to increase or decrease each component of the sound.

Then close the equalizer window to save your settings, then the settings window.
