The Sammy Miller Motorcycle Museum, one of the world’s largest and most comprehensive private motorcycle collections, was awarded the Winner of the Collections Award last week at the RAC’s annual Historic Awards gala at London’s Pall Mall.

Located in the New Forest National Park southwest of Southampton, the Miller Motorcycle Museum is an absolute must. The museum includes a private collection of approximately 500 motorcycles belonging to Sammy Miller, founder of the museum.

The motorcycle museum has won quite a few awards over the years, but never before has a motorcycle museum been awarded the Winner of the Collections Award. “It is a great tribute to our museum complex and reinforces our place on the world map as the world’s leading motorcycle museum,” said Sharon Bumpsteed, manager of the Miller Museum at the award ceremony.

Sharon Bumpsteed attended the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of Sammy, presented by David Bond, General Manager of Footman James, who supported the award category.

This prestigious award recognizes the phenomenal collection on display at the magnificent museum in New Milton, and pays tribute to Sammy’s decades-long dedication to motorsport, both on and off the track.

Each motorcycle has been hand-picked by Sammy for its technical innovation, its racing history or its significance to motorsport. The approximately 500 bicycles are almost all roadworthy and are carefully maintained by a team of volunteers.

“We are very honored to receive this award and incredibly proud of the further benefits it brings to New Milton and New Forest in supporting the tourism industry in the area. We look forward to a successful 2023 and continue to promote New Milton and New Forest,” said Sharon Bumpsteed.
