Have you bought a new iPhone X, but don’t you like the ‘notch’ above the screen? A developer has published an app in the App Store that fixes the problem.
This is how Notch Remover works
Not everyone is a fan of the ‘notch’, the snack that has been taken from the iPhone X screen for the Face ID camera and various sensors. As you can read in the iPhone X review, we do not bother ourselves with the notch, because the cut-out quickly disappears when you focus on the screen. Nevertheless, there are a lot of users who find the crop disturbing in daily use, because it stands out even more when watching videos, for example.
The new app ‘Notch Remover’ offers a solution. As the name suggests, the app will cut out the crop. The application does this by making the top of the screen (where the notch is located) black, so that it is less noticeable. In practice, a black bar is placed over the top of your wallpaper, making it look more like a notification bar.

Although there are also wallpapers that make the notch stand out less, Notch Remover is useful because the app adjusts existing backgrounds directly. Yet it is especially striking that Apple has admitted the app to the App Store at all. The Cupertino company urges developers to ’embrace’ the notch and not come up with applications to hide the crop.
Therefore, there is a possibility that Notch Remover will soon be removed from the App Store, because it clashes with Apple’s guidelines. If you want to try the app, it is smart to download it quickly. The app requires 31MB of free storage space and iOS 11 or newer.
