The WWDC 2022 keynote was packed with new features. In this second installment of our WWDC aftertalk, we’ll get you all up-to-date on watchOS 9. This is the new software update for your Apple Watch.
WWDC aftertalk: watchOS 9
On the first day of the keynote, Apple showed watchOS 9 in addition to macOS 13 Ventura, iOS 16 and iPadOS 16. In this video from the WWDC aftertalk, we’ll tell you more about the new features in watchOS 9.

watchOS 9: Watch faces and new sports features
If you have an Apple Watch Series 4 or newer, you will soon be able to update to watchOS 9. This new software version includes four new cool watch faces. We especially like the moon and astronomy dials. These designs fit in well with the design of iOS 16.
In addition, the Apple Watch will receive many new sports functions. Of course, the Apple Watch is already widely used to monitor your sports performance, but now Apple is taking it one step further. This way you can check with the gyroscope and accelerometer whether you are walking in the right way. The Apple Watch also better measures your heart rate and which sport you practice.
Drug usage in watchOS 9
Finally: the Apple’s watch will have a function for your medication use. The Apple Watch will then notify you when you need to take your medication. That way you will never forget them. You can also scan and store the medication on your iPhone by taking a photo of the jar or strip.
The smartwatch also keeps track of which medication can be mixed and which it is better not to combine. The Apple Watch is therefore even better for your health and your medication use with watchOS.
