Small size smaller
This year, the Chinese Xpeng will market the P7 and G9, which are particularly interesting in terms of price, in the Netherlands. The first a sedan, the second SUV. But it probably won’t stop at a single SUV delivery range. AutoWeek can already show you a new smaller SUV from Xpeng: the G6. Given the brand’s expansion plans, it may also come to Europe.
In February, Xpeng finally presented the versions of the P7 and G9 intended for the Dutch market. The P7 is a large electric sedan, the G9 a 4.89 meter long SUV that you can compare in size with the EQE from Mercedes-Benz. Do you think that SUV is too big? Don’t worry, there may be a smaller one.
AutoWeek has surfaced the first photos and the first technical data of the Xpeng G6 in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. It is an SUV-like with a steeply sloping roofline and is immediately recognizable as Xpeng from all angles. The Xpeng G6 is 4.75 meters long, which makes it just under 14 centimeters shorter than the G9. The wheelbase of the Xpeng G6 is also smaller at 2.89 than that of the G9, which is just under 3 meters. In terms of size, the G6 is therefore more comparable to the Skoda Enyaq Coupé iV.
The Xpeng G6 will be available with at least two engine configurations. There will be a variant with a single electric motor on the rear axle that delivers 296 hp. In addition, we have found specifications that indicate the arrival of a four-wheel drive variant. In addition to the unit on the rear axle, it has an extra 190 hp electric motor on the front axle. The top speed of both variants is 202 km/h. The lightest weighs 1,995 kilos, the more powerful version is about 100 kilos heavier.
