Xpeng G9: more details and interior of an electric SUV

The G9 is an interesting electric SUV from Xpeng for the European market. It seems that the Xpeng G9 will also come to the Netherlands and so the new information that Xpeng has now released about its electric SUV is quite interesting.

Xpeng brings the electric P5 to the Netherlands, but the Chinese brand does not stick to that single electric sedan. Although the European expansion drive is not yet running smoothly, Xpeng plans to bring the larger P7 to our continent afterwards. Those two low EVs will in any case be joined in China by the G9, an electric SUV that may also come to Europe. After all, Xpeng indicated that it was already taking export to other markets into account when developing the G9. In addition, AutoWeek was recently able to report that Xpeng had also registered the design of the G9 in Europe. Now we can tell you more about the Xpeng G9.

Until now, the Chinese only released a handful of exterior photos of the G9, but how big the SUV would be was still unclear. The Xpeng G9 was introduced as an SUV with seven seats and thus with three rows of seats. It is therefore not very surprising that it is 4.89 meters long. With that length, the SUV is comparable to the BMW iX (4.95 meters). The Xpeng G9, weighing at least 2.2 tons, has a wheelbase of just a few millimeters after three metres. The most powerful variant has two together 551 hp and 717 Nm strong electric motors and chases the 100 km/h in 3 seconds. Its top speed is 180 km/h. Underneath comes a less violent version with a single electric motor of 310 hp on the rear axle.

Both versions have a 96 kWh battery with which the G9 can travel 650 to 702 kilometers according to the Chinese measuring cycle. That may be a bit ambitious, so we’ll just have to wait and see what the WLTP values will be. The Xpeng G9 can recharge quite quickly thanks to 800 volts on-board voltage. The SUV, which shares its platform with the P7, can recharge for 200 kilometers in 5 minutes.

Then the interior, because we see that for the first time. Xpeng apparently likes to screen with screens and hangs not one, not two, but three screens on the dashboard. We see two 15-inch displays placed side by side, capable of displaying their information in a spatial manner, just like ‘3D televisions’. Behind the steering wheel is a smaller digital instrumentation. There are hardly any physical buttons. The rest of the interior looks luxurious thanks to extensive leather upholstery. So is the equipment. For example, the G9 comes on the market with ventilated and heated front seats with massage function. Even the rear seat(s) can be equipped with a massage function. Furthermore, an extensive audio system with 28 (!) speakers is available.
