Xpeng Tech Day

The Chinese manufacturer Xpeng, which will also sell electric cars in the Netherlands, presented a number of striking novelties during its annual Tech Day at its headquarters in Guangzhou. One is a flying car, but Xpeng also dared to present a robot pony.

Wait a minute, a robot pony? Sure. In fact, it is not even the first time that Xpeng presents a robotized horse. In 2021, Xpeng also showed a robot animal. The four-legged friend presented at the time and overloaded with artificial intelligence has been further developed, according to Xpeng and should, among other things, be able to move more smoothly through artificial life. In addition, Xpeng says that it has improved the battery of the ‘Robot Pony’, which is more like a dog or cat, by the way. Nice, but the smart robot is of course not the only news from Xpeng.

Xpeng Tech Day

Xpeng is also presenting a thoroughly modified version of its Electric Vehicle Take-Off and Landing Vehicle (eVTOL). In other words: a kind of flying car. Developed by Xpeng’s Aeroht division, the colossus consists of a drone equipped with multiple collapsible rotors that should be able to fly a car from one place to another. According to Xpeng, the flying unit has already completed its first successful flights. The vehicle that hangs under the drone can simply be deployed as a car, but Xpeng does not release extensive information about it. Last year Xpeng also showed a flying car, but it looked completely different.

More technical Xpeng violence comes in the form of smart artificial intelligence software that should enable the hardware to ‘make human trade-offs and make decisions’. In addition, during its Tech Day, Xpeng presented a new version of its digital assistant that you can talk to in the car.

Xpeng is the first to focus on the P7 and G9 in the Netherlands. The P5 does not seem to be coming to our country for the time being.
