The Chinese EV builder Xpeng says it wants to start in the Netherlands this quarter. It now appears that this is not done alone, but in collaboration with dealer organization Emil Frey NV.
With Emil Frey, Xpeng wants to set up stores and a service network in the Netherlands.
For those who do not work in the car industry, ‘Emil Frey’ may not be a well-known name. Yet it is a serious party. For example, the Dutch branch of this Swiss company owns Nefkens Peugeot/DS/Citroën/Opel, Visser Peugeot, Ekris BMW/MINI, Pouw Volkswagen/Audi/SEAT/ŠKODA, De Bois Honda, Emerpark Citroën/DS, Terwolde Renault. /Dacia and Hyundai Wittenberg. These are all names that you have probably seen on a license plate holder.
Emil Frey NV will help Xpeng set up a Dutch network. We deliberately do not say ‘dealer network’, because it is not the intention to set up a ‘Nefkens Xpeng’ or ‘De Bois Xpeng’. However, hip ‘stores’ must be created, completely in line with the latest fashion. According to this report, the first of these will not be in Amsterdam, but in the Westfield Mall of The Netherlands in Leidschendam.
Emil Frey will also provide Xpeng in the Netherlands with a service and distribution network. The first car that Xpeng carries here is the P7, a 4.88 meter long sedan with a battery capacity of 80 kWh and a range of about 550 km. However, more models should follow soon.
Incidentally, Xpeng has also made agreements in Sweden with a large dealer network. With that, the Chinese Tesla alternative is rapidly expanding in Europe, after it first set foot in Norway last year.
