Yamaha recalls MT-09, Tracer 9, XSR900, MT-10 and XSR700: Gas position sensor possible defective

Yamaha has rolled out a recall for the MT-09, the Tracer 9 GT, the XSR900, the MT-10 and the XSR700-plus all versions thereof. As a result of a production issue, the gas position Sensor may be defective. As a result, the engine may be stationary and suddenly turn off, which could lead to a crash in a sausage case scenario.

Yamaha recalls MT-09, Tracer 9, XSR900, MT-10 and XSR700: Gas position sensor possible defective

It is not the first time that Yamaha has problems with an irregular motorcycle run at the CP3 models, two years ago the brand with the crossed tuning forks even had to roll out a recall campaign twice because the ECU was not well programmed.

This time the gas position Sensor is the culprit. As a result of an issue in production, the sensor may be defective, which means that a wrong signal is sent to the ECU and the three -cylinder has an irregular stationary run. The engine can also suddenly turn off while driving, resulting in the power loss. The motorcycle indicator will light up in the display.

The recall applies to the CP3 models MT-09, MT-09 and MT-09 Y-AMT that were produced between 2020 and 2025, the Tracer 9 GT from 2021-2024 and the Tracer 9 GT+ from between 2023 and 2024, and the XSR900 from 2022 to 2024. In addition, the recall also relates to the MT-10 and MT-10 SP in between 2022 and 2025 and finally the XSR700 from between 2022 and 2025.

The sensor will be replaced at the Yamaha dealer.
