You don’t have to wait long for the first new Apple products of 2026. We list the products that will probably be released in January for you.

M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro

Apple launched the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 processor in October, but more expensive models are still available. That is expected to change this month. New 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are coming with M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. Apart from that performance improvement, we don’t expect any major changes.

MacBook

Apple is working on a brand new addition to the Mac series that is rumored to launch this month: a cheaper MacBook with the A18 Pro chip. That is the same chip that is in the iPhone 16 Pro. This is the first time Apple has used an iPhone-class processor in a Mac. The MacBook is rumored to cost well under $1,000 and have a 12.9-inch screen. Ming-Chi Kuo has said possible colors for the case silver, blue, pink and yellow are.

Other hardware

In the first quarter of 2026 we expect the M5 MacBook Air, a new iPad Air and a new basic iPad. However, history shows that these products will likely not be announced until March and not January. Apple is also working on a new Mac mini and Mac Studio for mid-year. The iPhone 17e is also coming, probably in February.

And then of course we are still waiting for the new AirTag and Apple TV. These updates have been rumored for so long that no one knows when they will actually hit the market.

New software

Apple is also working on software updates that will likely arrive this month. iOS 26.3 entered beta last month and given history, it will likely be available to everyone in January. iOS 26.3 isn’t a major update for iPhone users, but there are a few changes worth noting:

  • A new system to switch between iPhone and Android, and take your data with you.
  • EU changes: Notification forwarding, proximity pairing and more for third-party accessories like smartwatches and headphones.

FYI: iOS 18.3 was released on January 27, iOS 17.3 on January 22. In addition to iOS 26.3, Apple is working on software updates for other platforms to be released this month:

  • macOS 26.3
  • tvOS 26.3
  • iPadOS 26.3
  • watchOS 26.3
  • visionOS 26.3

These updates are mainly focused on bug fixes and performance improvements. There are no major new features for users. Don’t want to miss out on all the new updates and Apple products? Then sign up for our newsletter!
