Even if you have nothing to hide, some things you prefer to keep yourself – since iOS 18.4 you have to adjust something for that in Safari.
Automatic hide searches in Safari
Since iOS 18.4 Safari Namely an overview of all recent searches that you have performed in the mobile web browser. That means that everyone who looks at your screen can see that. That may not necessarily be bad, but at the same time they of course have nothing to do with it.
It happens when you open a new tab in Safari and tap the search bar to enter a URL or search term. A list of recent searches appears that stays there until you start typing. The list also appears when you go to the search bar and tap the X button on the right to erase the current URL. We show you in two simple steps how you can automatically hide this list in Safari.
1. Go to the settings
Open the Settings app and tap ‘Apps’ all the way down. The apps in the list are in alphabetical order, so you can scroll down to find Safari, tap the letter ‘s’ in the menu on the right side of the screen, or use the search bar. Tap Safari if you have found the app to go to the settings.

2. Switch off ‘Show recent searches’
To automatically hide your Safari searches, scroll down until you come across the ‘search’ section. Below that you see the ‘Show recent searches’ option. Turn off the switch behind it so that it is no longer green.

This way you can automatically hide everything you have looked up in Safari. Your searches are therefore no longer displayed in a list.
