You can now buy a working mini Macintosh of just 6 cm

A mini Macintosh of only 6 centimeters that also really works, that sounds like something impossible-but not for web store 1-bit Rainbow.

A working mini macintosh

The first original Macintosh from Apple appeared on the market in 1984 and was more or less the founder for the current PC. The name Macintosh has not been used for a long time, but the abbreviation Mac is of course still there.

Web store 1-bit Rainbow Allow old times with the so-called Pico-Mac-Nano, a working mini Macintosh of only 6 centimeters high. There is a Raspberry Pi Pico-MicroController to emulate the original system on the 2-inch LCD screen. There is also a custom printed circuit board in the housing that imitates the Macintosh 128K design and the device also supports modern USB mice and keyboards, and even a micro SD card.

Order Pico-Mac-Nano

You can actually order the Pico-Mac nano. You will then receive a USB splitter cable, 3V battery and Allen key. A small Macintosh includes a small price, because for the whole you only pay 56 British pounds, which is about 67 euros converted. There are still just under 15 euros for sending to the Netherlands. The Mini Macintosh is even supplied in a replica of the original Picasso box from Apple.

It is also possible to purchase all supplies separately via Githubincluding 3D print files for the housing, PCB designs and firmware. There is no guarantee, because it is an open source project. There is also a considerable risk of stability problems and there can be compatibility problems with old software.

Temporarily ‘out of stock’

And then there is more bad news. The delivery time of this Mini Macintosh would be 30 days, but the website of 1-bit Rainbow is currently the following:

“Notice: Due to huge, unexpected demand, and the time tasks to 3D print, we have temporarily stopped orders. Click the notify button to be informed when they are available again again.”

“Note: Due to the huge, unexpected question and the time required for 3D printing, we have temporarily stopped the orders. Click the ‘Notify’ button to receive a message when they are available again.”

If you want to order such a mini Macintosh or Pico-Mac-Nano, then you will still have to be patient for the time being.
