The major innovations of iOS 26 will not have escaped you, but there are also small new functions in the next operating system.
Hidden functions in iOS 26
There are many new functions in iOS 26. The largest Apple presented during the keynote on June 9, but the smaller ones have been tacitly added. We list some of those smaller, yet useful new functions of iOS 26 for you.

- The Home-Balk (the horizontal line that you often see at the bottom of the screen) is meant to remind you that you can wipe up to go to the home screen. This is largely removed from apps in iOS 26. Only when you open an app is the beam briefly visible.
- In iOS 26 it is possible to receive weather updates via a satellite connection when there is no WiFi or mobile connection available.
- When you put an alarm, it is possible to adjust the duration of the slumber function.
- If the camera lens is dirty, your iPhone will detect this and then advises to clean the lens.
- When you dictate something with the dictaphone, it is possible in iOS 26 to spell a word or a name.
- In the app messages you can now select part of the text in a speech balloon, instead of the entire text.
- There is now a button in the app messages to add a contact person if there is someone in a group chat that you don’t know.
- If you have blocking the option unknown senders in the Messages app, there are 26 new filter options in iOS. You can, among other things, allow time -sensitive reports, personal messages from companies, order confirmations and promotions.
- In the Privacy and Security of the App Settings section you can view a list of people you have blocked.
- You can manage automatic payments in iOS 26 in the Wallet app. This way you can view authorized payments in advance and manage your payment methods.
- There will be a button for the app memories in the control panel.
- You can export a note to a Markdown file.
- Apple Music has an option to make folders for playlists.
- In the app files you can now see the contents of folders without first having to open the full folder.
- In the app settings, Apple has added and feeling a ‘late night mode’.
- In the same place you can also select a microphone in iOS 26 if you have connected a Bluetooth microphone.
- Your iPhone lets you know whether you use more energy than normal at a certain moment of the day and which apps that is. On the lock screen and in the settings under ‘Battery’ you can see how long your iPhone still has to charge.
- Internship manager can now also be used on older iPads.
- If you are not a fan of Liquid Glass, you can reduce transparency in accessibility settings.
- There are many more background noises available in iOS 26, such as planes, rain on roof, fire and more.
The new operating system will be in September
At the moment only developers have access to an early version of iOS 26, but Apple is planning to release a public beta version in July. iOS 26 will become available to the general public in September, probably at the same time with the new iPhones.
