Your car was rejected for this during the MOT

Inspecting a car is a human job. So the judge sometimes overlooks something. The RDW checks the work of inspectors by means of random checks. What do inspectors encounter most in terms of mistakes by the judge?

Most misses are issues related to the chassis of the car. From tires to suspension and too much rust on vital, load-bearing parts.

Carlo Leurink is a sample inspector at the RDW. What does he encounter?

“As a sample inspector, I visit many different companies to carry out a sample. Then I assess whether the MOT has been performed correctly. In this way, together we ensure that vehicles on the road remain as safe as possible. Sometimes it happens that an inspector has overlooked or incorrectly assessed something, such as too little profile on the tires, rust damage, wear of mechanical parts of the braking system and steering or ball joints. Those things are the most common. I also regularly see damaged tires, broken or torn springs and incorrect adjustment of the low beam.”
