There have been significant price increases recently at several streaming services. Now YouTube Premium also seems to be becoming more expensive.

YouTube recently decided to block ad blockers on the video site. This has made it virtually impossible to watch commercial-free without YouTube Premium.

YouTube Premium becomes more expensive (these are the new prices)

Now YouTube has decided to make Premium more expensive in several countries. For example, YouTube Premium subscribers from Germany, Australia and Poland, among others, received an email announcing the price increase. The new prices took effect there on November 1.

The email that YouTube Premium subscribers received stated that the company ‘does not make this decision easily’. And that they will continue to improve Premium and support creators on YouTube.

In Germany, prices have increased by 1 euro from 12 euros to 13 euros. The family subscription became a lot more expensive. There the price goes from 18 euros to 24 euros per month.

In Australia the price increase is even greater. There the prices go from 12 Australian dollars per month to 17 Australian dollars. The prices of the family subscription in Australia will go from 23 to 33 Australian dollars.

YouTube Premium price increase in the Netherlands?

It is not yet known whether the price increase will also come to the Netherlands. Here too, YouTube Premium costs 12 euros per month. So if we do get a price increase (and YouTube Premium also becomes more expensive in the Netherlands), it will probably be the same increase as in Germany.

YouTube Premium: these are the benefits

YouTube’s subscription service consists of a number of parts. The most important thing is that you can watch YouTube without advertisements. You also get a few extra features in the YouTube app.

You also get access to YouTube Music. This music service is an alternative to Spotify and Apple Music. It is similar to other music services: you can listen to all the music from your favorite artists unlimitedly and commercial-free, even in the background.
