At the beginning of this year, the Vietnamese car manufacturer Vinfast showed which models it would fire on at least the Vietnamese, but possibly also the European car market in the coming years. One of those models now has a different name and its powertrain has also been tinkered with.
The Vietnamese manufacturer Vinfast gave us a glimpse into the future at the beginning of this year. The current model range, which consists of the Lux A2.0 and LuxAS2.0 based on the previous BMW 5-series and X5 and a retrofitted Opel Karl, is being expanded with numerous new and especially electric models. One of those newcomers would be the VF31, an electric crossover suddenly called VF e34 and which suddenly has a different powertrain.

The Vinfast VF31 was presented as an electric crossover with a 116 hp and 190 Nm strong electric motor on the front axle. The 4.34 meter long Vinfast could squeeze about 300 kilometers of range from its 42 kWh battery pack. What appears now? The VF31 is now called VF e34 and now has a 150 hp and 242 Nm strong electric motor. The battery pack still has a capacity of 42 kWh and the range of 300 kilometers is unchanged according to Vinfast.

The starting price of the 1,490 kilos Vinfast VF e34, which will hit the Vietnamese market at the end of this year, has been set at 590 million Vietnamese Dong, which is about € 21,650. You have to rent the battery pack, although it is free for the first year. Vinfast also claims to provide a 10-year warranty on the VF e34.
Vinfast initially presented itself as a brand that would only be active on the Vietnamese home market, although the brand later indicated that it also has the global car market in its sights. The brand spoke about coming to Europe, the United States and Canada, among other things. In November 2021, all three newcomers presented at the beginning of this year would also be available in Europe. It remains to be seen how Vinfast’s plans for the future exactly get their hands and feet.
