Finally, ABN AMRO customers can make a quick payment via the app without an e.dentifier. The ABN AMRO app now supports iDEAL payments.
ABN AMRO adds iDEAL support to the app
The bank is slowly making the e.dentifier, the verification device for logging in and paying with, redundant for banking via your telephone. A large part of the online purchases are paid via iDEAL, and as an ABN AMRO customer you previously needed an e.dentifier to confirm your payment.
It has been possible for some time to confirm payments via the bank’s website with your mobile. Instead of using the e.dentifier, you can confirm payment orders with Touch ID, Face ID or a pin code. When that function was introduced, iDEAL support was frequently requested by customers.
When you pay for something online on a desktop, you choose iDEAL as the payment method. Then open the ABN AMRO app on your iPhone or iPad and select the qr code scanner in the start screen. This has been added for the new function. You then scan the QR code on the screen with your device and you can complete the payment in the app.
Extra handy is that you do not have to log in to the app first to complete your payment. This definitely makes it a faster alternative to the e.dentifier, where you first have to insert your card, enter your pin code and enter a code on the website.
e.dentifier can still be used
For people who prefer to use the e.dentifier as verification, it is still possible to make a payment this way. The support is a step forward for the bank, although the ABN AMRO app received the title ‘most comprehensive banking app’ from Banken.nl last summer.
In addition to iDEAL support, the banking app has received even more new functions with this update. You can now also view your mortgage and easily submit declarations from your home construction account.
