The Giga Manga web app starts with a canvas in which you draw a few lines. Then machine learning will complete the sketch for you and turn it into a manga-like character, according to Google. In practice, the “Magic Pen” will do a lot of preliminary work on single-line bases. The end result varies depending on the amount of time you spend sketching. Do you want to get started yourself, without the help of artificial intelligence? Then you immediately grab the normal pen.
Giga Manga allows you to create your own manga-like drawings using machine learning. In this unique experiment, all you need to do is sketch a few simple lines and add some pops of color – and let machine learning fill in the rest. You can also draw a free form to further personalize your creation. And when you’re done, the tool will help you discover manga similar to the one you drew.
Manga Out Of The Box
The Giga Manga web app is part of Manga Out Of The Box, a website with all the information about manga you need as a beginner. You will learn everything about the history of manga, you will find examples of well-known Japanese manga artists such as Osamu Tezuka and much more. Manga Out Of The Box is a collaboration between the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, twelve cultural institutions in Japan and Google Arts & Culture. You will find Giga Manga here on your tablet, pc or laptop, but you can also start sketching on your mobile in the Arts & Culture app. So grab your tablet, find a spot in the sun, and start with your own manga character.
