KG Mobility Tivoli

SsangYong is no more. The brand is now known as KG Mobility. The SsangYong Tivoli presented in 2015 lives on as KG Mobility Tivoli and gets a facelift, but remarkably enough it still has to do partly with SsangYong badges.

SsangYong is now called KG Mobility, but models from the SsangYong legacy such as the Korando and Rexton still show SsangYong traits. The electric Torres EVX – which is also coming to Europe – was born under the leadership of SsangYong and the old SsangYong logos can still be seen on the steering wheel and hub caps, among other things. KG Mobility is now giving the Tivoli – which has been running since 2015 – a facelift. What seems? The SsangYong badges are not gone yet.

The renewed Tivoli with the well-known SsangYong logo on the wheels…

At least: not everywhere. Although you will no longer find SsangYong badges on the front and rear of the updated Tivoli, the old logo is still on the center caps and on the steering wheel. It therefore seems very likely that KG Mobility maintains the old SsangYong logo, but has referred the written-out brand name to the trash. Indeed: just like the KG Torres EVX.

… and on the steering wheel.

You will recognize the renewed Tivoli – which also went under the knife in 2019 – especially at the front. The cooling gap between the Tivoli’s headlights has become much smaller, the headlights have a different layout and the entire front bumper has a different shape. To emphasize the SUV content of the car, KG Mobility adds silver-colored skid plate-like elements. Incidentally, not only the Tivoli is undergoing a makeover, the larger and previously Tivoli XLV called Grand Tivoli – which is called Tivoli Air in South Korea – is also slightly revised. The infotainment system is undergoing a modernization and the buttons for the climate control are now slightly different. The Tivoli and Grand Tivoli (Air) are available in their home country of South Korea with a 163 hp 1.5 turbo engine and with a naturally aspirated 1.6 that delivers 126 hp.

Since its international introduction, the Tivoli has sold 290,000 units worldwide. In the Netherlands, an extremely modest 41 copies have been registered since 2015. KG Mobility has more than just the electric Torres EVX in the pipeline. For example, it is working on no less than four new electric models.
