New BMW M5: Touring for the first time in years

Good news for those who do not want a Mercedes-AMG E 63 Estate or Audi RS6 Avant, but who would like a fantastic station from BMW in that segment. For the first time in years there will be another BMW M5 Touring!

For the first time in M3 history, BMW delivers an M3 Touring and apparently the Germans want more. BMW announces the arrival of the new BMW M5 and casually reports that it will not only come as a sedan, but also as an M5 Touring. The BMW M5 of the E34 and E60 generations were also available as a sedan as well as an M5 Touring, but the M5s of the F10 and F90 generations that followed only came as a sedan.

The first…

It is interesting that there will be a new BMW M5 Touring. In recent years, it was only Mercedes-Benz that delivered the sporty top versions of its model in the 5-series segment, both as a sedan and as a station wagon. The Mercedes-AMG E63 has been available as an Estate for years in addition to a Limousine. Audi has chosen for years to deliver the RS6 only as an Avant. Incidentally, it does not stop with the arrival of the M5 Sedan and M5 Touring. Both body styles will also be available as an electric i5. The i5 Sedan is already here, the i5 Touring – just like the regular 5-series Touring – not yet.

… and the last BMW M5 Touring for now.

BMW says it is currently busy testing the new M5 and M5 Touring. The muscular duo will be on the market in 2024. BMW already speaks of a ‘partly electrified powertrain’. The BMW M5 will therefore also have a plug-in hybrid power plant. The BMW XM is available as a 475 hp 50th, but that powertrain is of course too small for the M5. After all, the previous M5 was already good for 600 hp and, as Competition and CS, even delivered 625 hp and 635 hp successively. BMW may hang the 653 hp strong hardware from the simply ‘XM’ XM version to the M5. The XM Label Red even kicks it up to 748 hp. Whichever version it will be: that the BMW M5 will get a V8 seems to be certain.
