Peugeot 308 soon only with analogue instruments

The current Peugeot 308 is now on its last legs, but at the last minute the French are still making a change in production. From May, all copies will be equipped with an analogue instead of a digital set of instruments. Peugeot wants to minimize the impact of the chip shortage on the rest of the production.

Peugeot builds the current 308 in Sochaux. The production of this will continue until the autumn, as the market introduction of the new 308 is planned for the second half of this year. For the current 308, the manufacturer is making the change that the copies still to be built will all receive an analog instrumentation from May. The digital i-Cockpit is therefore no longer present on the current 308. A spokesperson for Peugeot Netherlands confirms this to Techzle. In this way the brand can continue to meet the demand from the market and valuable microchips are left over for other cars of the brand.

According to news agency Reuters The French news channel LCI mentioned a possible discount of € 400 on the current 308 due to the lack of digital instruments, but Peugeot Netherlands says it knows nothing about this discount.

The new Peugeot 308, with digital instruments, rolls off the production line in Mulhouse. There, Peugeot was forced to cease production for a few days due to the chip shortage, but according to the brand, customers will experience ‘hardly any inconvenience’ from the production stop later this year. Peugeot is Incidentally, by no means the only car manufacturer which has to contend with the shortage of microchips.
