The Sony WF-C700N earbuds cost ‘only’ 99 euros, but you get a lot in return. In our review you can read what makes them so good.
Sony WF-C700N
If you would rather not spend more than 200 euros on AirPods Pro, but would like earplugs with active noise reduction, the Sony WF-C700N is a good choice. The sound quality is excellent, although it may not quite match that of the AirPods Pro. In addition, the active noise cancellation works fine. And that for only 99 euros!
The earbuds are light and have a button and a microphone. You turn the noise reduction on (and off) with the button on the left earpiece. Via the button on the right earpiece you can start and stop music, among other things.
Also nice: you can adjust these functions with the app. Although you almost always have to make a concession. If you switch the noise reduction on and off with the left, and use the right as playback control, you cannot adjust the volume, for example.
Great sound quality!
For earplugs of less than 100 euros, the sound quality of the Sony WF-C700N is absolutely excellent. Music, movies, everything sounds equally beautiful as far as we are concerned. Bass, mids and highs are nicely balanced and all sound crystal clear. All in all very convincing and for this money you simply won’t find earplugs that sound better. Especially not with active noise reduction.
Charging the earphones and the case
The Sony WF-C700N come in a cylindrical charging case with USB C connection. If you put the earphones in the charging case, they will be charged. If you take them out, they will automatically connect to your iPhone. The first time you will of course have to manually connect them to your iPhone.
You charge the charging case itself with the supplied cable, which you can connect to a USB A port. So you need a suitable adapter for that. There is a small light on the front of the charging case that shows the battery status when you open the cover. At the back, next to the USB-C connection, there is a button for switching on the pairing mode.
Battery life of the Sony WF-C700N
With a full battery you can listen to music for about 10 hours, provided you have switched off the active noise reduction. If you switch it on, you can go ahead for about 7.5 hours. That could be better, but in practice it is fine to do.
It is a pity that the charging case can only fully charge the earphones once, before they have to be connected to the charger themselves. This gives you a total battery life of about 15 hours, which is a bit on the low side.
Sony Headphone Connect
The first time you use the Sony WF-C700N, you can easily set them up via the Sony Headphones Connect app. But this app has much more to offer. For example, it has an equalizer that allows you to adjust the sound to your own taste. And you will find the function ‘Adaptive sound control’, with which you can adjust the noise reduction to your use.
The earbuds sit well in your ears and also stay in place during exercise. They are splash-proof according to IPX4 certification. But beware: you should not go swimming with it.
Conclusion Sony WF-C700N
If you are looking for affordable earplugs with good sound and active noise reduction, look no further! The Sony WF-C700N deliver on both fronts and cost only 99 euros. With the Sony app you can adjust everything to your own wishes, both in terms of sound and operation. The only drawback is that the total battery life is a bit on the low side.
