The 3 Best Features in iOS 17 (You Must Try Out Right Away)

Have you already installed the public beta of iOS 17? Cool! Then you can try out the 3 best features in iOS 17 right away!

The 3 best features in iOS 17 you must try

Unfortunately, iOS 17 isn’t a very big iPhone update. Still, there are a few cool features that come with it. Apps like Phone, FaceTime and Messages have been updated and AirDrop is even easier.

Still unsure whether to install the iOS 17 public beta? Then the following features in the iPhone update might convince you. These are the three best features in iOS 17!

iOS 17 standby

1. Standby mode

A completely new feature for your iPhone in iOS 17 is the Standby mode. This allows you to use your phone as an alarm clock, a smart display of sorts, or a personal hub. You have to charge your iPhone with a cable or wirelessly via MagSafe. Then turn the iPhone a quarter turn (horizontally) and wait a while. The Standby screen appears automatically.

On the screen you will see several options. That varies from a clock with a calendar, to a wide choice of widgets that you can use. The smart stacks are also at your disposal, so that the right widgets always come up. In addition, this feature also has support for Live Activities, Siri, incoming calls, and larger notifications.

2. Faster and accurate typing

There will also be quite a few changes to the keyboard and spell checker in iOS 17. For example, the dictation function has received a major upgrade. You can now use the keyboard while speaking. Handy if you want to type a name or a word in spoken language, for example. The dictation function sometimes has trouble with that.

One of the biggest annoyances while typing has always been the autocorrect. But that is almost a thing of the past in iOS 17. One of the three best features in iOS 17 is the improved autocorrect. You will now immediately see if a word has been modified by means of a blue line. This is useful when your iPhone has incorrectly adjusted the text. By tapping on the word you can then easily return to the original word.

3. Easy(er) login to websites

Do you also find it so annoying when you sometimes have to log in to a website with a password that you have long forgotten? With your iPhone you can enter passwords more easily, but that is not always possible. That will (partially) change with iOS 17.

There will be a way to use your iPhone’s Face ID or Touch ID to log into a website. You don’t have to type in a password anymore. That also works if you are behind a strange PC and you have to log in to your Apple ID.

There are significant advantages to this way of logging in. When you log in the old way with your username and password, the website needs to know the password. If the website is involved in a data breach, malicious parties can gain access to your password. This no longer happens when you log in this way. After all, you never pass on your password.

Wanna try? You can if you already have the public beta of iOS 17 on your iPhone. Then surf to the website with your Mac iCloud.com and enter your Apple ID email address. You then tap the ‘Log in with iPhone’ button and then you scan a kind of special QR code with your iPhone’s camera. You will then receive a notification on your iPhone asking if you want to log in with Face ID. Did you do this? Then the website will automatically open in the browser on your Mac.

Just not in the top 3 best features

A feature that just didn’t make it to the top 3 of these best features of iOS 17 is the Journal app. You can see this as a kind of app to write down your thoughts or daily experiences. Your iPhone provides personalized suggestions to write about, but also includes quite a few general topics. These suggestions are based on recent activity, including photos, people, places, and workouts.

You don’t have to worry about your privacy. Apple says no one else can access the app — not even Apple. So you can go crazy about your noisy neighbors or that annoying cashier who closed the cash register in front of you.

There is one but: at the moment the app is not yet available in beta. Apple has said the app will be available later this year.
