You’ve probably heard all about the major iPhone 16 features by now, but there are some smaller features you might have missed.
iPhone 16 features you may have missed
Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 lineup this week, bringing with it some gorgeous new colors, a new photo capture button (camera slider), bigger batteries, and support for Apple Intelligence. But there are still a few iPhone 16 features you might have missed. Here’s a look at them.
1. Lower minimum brightness
The latest iPhones support a much lower minimum brightness, down to 1 nit. Some people still find the lowest brightness setting too bright, but that should no longer be the case with the iPhone 16.
2. Faster charging
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus can charge faster than ever before, with both MagSafe and USB-C. iPhone 16 supports 25W of MagSafe charging and up to 45W of wired charging via USB-C. This is significantly faster than previous iPhone models, which supported up to 15W of MagSafe charging and up to 30W of USB-C charging. So if fast charging is important to you, upgrading to iPhone 16 now might be a good idea.
3. Faster WiFi
The new iPhone 16 models all support Wi-Fi 7, which means you can also get faster Wi-Fi speeds with the regular iPhone 16 models. Provided you have a fast plan and a fast router, of course. Wi-Fi 7 supports speeds of up to 46 Gbps, which is more than five times faster than the 9 Gbps of Wi-Fi 6E. Wi-Fi 7 also works on 320 MHz channels and supports the 6 GHz band, which greatly reduces interference and signal congestion.
4. Macro photography
One of the most useful iPhone 16 features is macro photography. While the feature first arrived with the iPhone 13 Pro in 2021, shooting in macro mode has never been possible on regular iPhone models — until now. The iPhone 16 has a new Ultra Wide camera, so you can finally take close-up macro shots.
5. Spatial Photos and Videos
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus now support iPhone 16 features Spatial Photos and Spatial Video for Apple Vision Pro. Apple introduced support for Spatial Video on iPhone 15 Pro models last year. Additionally, support for Spatial Photos is new, allowing you to capture photos with depth information, making them more immersive when viewed on Vision Pro.
6. Photographic styles
With the new Photographic Styles, it’s easy to add your own touch to all your photos. By adjusting the colors and tones, you can make your photos even more personal. Then, you can easily apply all your changes to all your photos and remove them just as easily.
Features like Apple Intelligence and the new button (camera controller) are more likely to convince people to upgrade than these 5 iPhone 16 features. But that doesn’t make them any less interesting!
