Hyundai Ioniq 5: Longest range version most popular

You might not think so, but the Hyundai Ioniq 5 was presented in production trim two years ago. The electric Hyundai has now been on the Dutch market for a while. This is how the Hyundai Ioniq 5, overloaded with retro lines, has fared so far.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 entered the Dutch market in 2021 and immediately managed to win over a considerable number of souls. Although the Dutch importer opened the order books for the special introductory version called Project 45 as early as February 2021, it took until April before the prices of the regular versions were known and until the summer before the first copies were delivered. Nevertheless, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 already managed to find 1,710 owners in its first and therefore not even a full sales year, making the electric Hyundai the most popular model of the brand in the Netherlands after the Tucson, i10 and Kona. In 2022, the registration counter remained at 1,941, partly due to the consequences of the corona pandemic. The biggest misery now seems to be behind us, also for the Ioniq 5. The registration figures are rising quickly this year.

In the first two months of this year, 442 copies of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 have already been registered in the Netherlands. That is almost twice as many as in the same period last year (225 pieces). Of the more than 440 Ioniqs 5 delivered, 258 were registered in February.

Most popular Hyundai Ioniq 5

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is available in the Netherlands with three different powertrains. The entry-level version has a 170 hp electric motor on the rear axle and a 58 kWh battery, good for an electric range of up to 384 kilometers. In addition, Hyundai offers the Ioniq 5 with a 77 kWh battery pack. That package can be combined with a single 229 hp electric motor on the rear axle, but also with two electric motors with 325 hp together. The version with the largest battery pack and the 229 hp electric motor is by far the most popular choice in the Netherlands.

According to figures that AutoWeek has requested from the importer, no less than 68.2 percent of all Ioniqs 5 delivered in 2022 and 2023 are a model with a 77.4 kWh battery and a 229 hp electric heart. That engine version gives the Hyundai Ioniq 5 an electric range of up to 507 kilometers. This makes it the Ioniq 5 with the largest range. The 325 hp powerful variant with two electric motors kicks it up to 481 kilometers. In addition, until the arrival of the probably 585 hp Ioniq 5 N, it is available from €59,995 as Connect, while the 229 hp 77.4 kWh version is available from €51,895 in Style trim. The 229 hp strong Ioniq 5 costs €54,995 as Connect and is therefore 5 grand cheaper than the similarly executed and least expensive 325 hp version. Of all Ioniq 5 delivered in 2022 and 2023, 15.1 percent had the 58 kWh battery and the 170 hp electric motor. 16.8 percent went for the most powerful variant.
