A close pair: The already cooled moon above the still hellish volcanic lava shaped Earth. Because the two celestial bodies used to orbit each other much closer together, the length of the day on Earth was much shorter.

In the beginning, the earth was as hot as Venus is today, but it cooled down quickly because the young sun was much weaker then. Atmospheric water vapor fell as heavy rain and formed the oceans.
