Look for the differences
The Mazda 3 as you know it now is more than four years old. Models usually go under the knife after about four years, so Mazda is now modernizing its Golf and Corolla competitor. But it’s not a facelift.
The sharpened Mazda 3 just presented in Japan comes on the market in a new paint color called Ceramic Metallic. We find bigger news in the interior. Currently, the Mazda 3 is available with an 8.8-inch infotainment screen. That screen makes way for a considerably larger one with a diameter of 10.25 inches. From now on you can use Apple CarPlay without a cord if desired, and there is a USB type-C connection. In addition, the Japanese add an inductive charger to the equipment of the Mazda 3.
The sensors of the Mazda 3 not only detect vehicles and fixed objects at the front, but also pedestrians. In addition, the 3 now gives an audible signal if the car believes that the driver is distracted.
Will this improved Mazda 3 be reserved for the Japanese domestic market? We think not. The Mazda models are normally in line with the Japanese versions in Europe. Since there is usually little time between the introduction of an updated Japanese model and the European equivalent, it will not be long before the Dutch importer releases something about the modified 3. For example, the Mazda 2 renewed for the European market followed a few weeks after the presentation of the facelifted 2 in Japan.
