Electronic Arts has announced the game EA SPORTS F1 23, the official video game of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The game will be released on June 16 for the PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The new EA SPORTS F1 23 game should make F1 racing feel even more realistic thanks to input from real F1 teams and new Precision Driven technology. And Max Verstappen shines on the cover of the (exclusively digitally available) Champions Edition.
Reveal Trailer
Today Electronic Arts announced the game EA SPORTS F1 23. This is the official video game of the FIA Formula One World Championship. The game will be released on June 16 for the PlayStation5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, via the EA App, Epic Games Store and Steam.
Not only will the Braking Point narrative game mode return, but all the teams, drivers and circuits that will be in action during the 2023 season will also be present in the game, including the Las Vegas Grand Prix and Losail International Circuit in Qatar. Earlier this year, EA SPORTS announced a partnership with two-time champion Max Verstappen and it was announced that Max will have the EA SPORTS logo on the chin of his helmet this season. It was also revealed yesterday that he stars on the cover of the digital-exclusive F1 23 Champions Edition.
“The return of Braking Point gives players the opportunity to dive into an all-new racing story and get a unique behind-the-scenes look at the world of Formula 1,” said Lee Mather, Senior Creative Director at Codemasters. “Our strong relationship with the F1 teams has helped us refine the controls and make them more realistic, including for gamepad players. In addition, we have implemented a new color encoding system, which is also used in TVs, for a more realistic experience.”
Will Konnersport Racing Team make it?
Braking Point in F1 23 stars the young Aiden Jackson and protagonist Devon Butler: a promising duo that is part of Konnersport Racing Team. This organization is doing everything possible to make a stand against the F1 teams and drivers who call the shots on and off the track in real life. Braking Point adds new characters, fiery rivalries and many racing challenges as players are drawn into the turbulent careers of Aiden and Devon.
Closer to reality
The controls in F1 23 have been upgraded from last season and several innovations have been made to make racing feel even more realistic. With improved controls, players can expect more predictable handling, and the cars have been designed with better physics to give players more grip and control when braking, accelerating, and cornering. The developer has also used valuable input from real F1 teams to create a better balance between aerodynamics and tire grip for an extra realistic feel. In addition, improvements have been made at a detailed level, under the hood, to create a more authentic racing feeling and more connection with the car. Think of upgrades for the torque motor, which makes control over the throttle feel more realistic. Finally, Precision Drive controller technology gives players who use a pad to control the game more control during crucial racing moments.
Other additions
Based on community feedback, a 35% race distance has been added to the game – the perfect midpoint between short and long race options. Red flags are also a new strategic element in F1 23 and can turn the outcome of a race upside down. The 2023 calendar expands with races in Las Vegas and Losail and these circuits will also make an appearance in F1 23. It does not stop there, as there are also three legacy circuits available at launch: Paul Ricard (France), Shanghai (China) and Portimão (Portugal).
Introducing F1 World
New to the franchise is F1 World: a refreshing gaming experience inspired by the real-life racing calendar. This hub helps players navigate the complex world of Formula 1 and brings together different game modes, including Time Trial and Grand Prix. F1 World not only gives players a new way to race, but the progression system has also been revamped. By completing challenges and leveling up, they can unlock new upgrades for their cars, new liveries, racing outfits and helmets. To make racing fair and safe, the game uses a new safety rating system that links both online and online gameplay. This system encourages players to race in a clean, safe manner and connects players with the same mindset to make online racing fairer and more fun.
