Milestone for Renault Trafic is partly a Dutch party

Celebration in Sandouville, France: the factory there has assembled its millionth Renault Trafic. That Trafic will not stay in France, because the lucky customer who may receive it is a Dutchman.

Just to avoid any misunderstanding: the black Renault Trafic in the photo is not the millionth Trafic ever built. It is the one millionth built at the Sandouville factory. It took roughly nine years to reach that milestone, the Renault Trafic has been around for 43 years. The total counter is already on the way to 2.5 million copies. Nevertheless, it is a nice party for the employees in Sandouville, in a factory that has undoubtedly experienced many milestones in its almost 60-year existence.

The Trafic in question was delivered today to its first owner, the Dutchman Romke Hekstra. He will use the Trafic for his family business in Damwoude (Damwâld) in Friesland. In the meantime, they are happily continuing to build in Sandouville and will soon also have the production of the electric Renault Trafic on their plate. Incidentally, the Nissan Primastar also runs off the production line here.
