You probably know Ram mainly from big pick-ups like the 1500, but the Stellantis brand sells many more models. Both with and without an open loading platform. Ram has a brand new and for the brand relatively compact pick-up in the pipeline, of which we now not only know what it will be called, but where we can also see the first images.

Ram’s portfolio consists of various models that you may not have heard of in Europe. For example, it sells Fiat commercial vehicles with its own snout, such as the Ducato-based ProMaster Van, the Doblò-based ProMaster City and the ProMaster City Rapid, which is a far-Ram-de Fiat Fiorino. More relatively unknown Ram fun comes in the form of the 700 and the 1000, both Fiat-based pickups. The Ram 700 is a Fiat Strada on which Ram has poured its sauce and the Ram 1000 is a similarly modified Fiat Toro. We are now briefly introduced to the Ram Rampage and it also relies on known technology.

The Ram Rampage appears to be less of a Fiat-with-Ram looks than the aforementioned 700 and 1000. For example, the windows and doors are not identical to those of the Strada or Toro. Like the Toro, the Rampage is probably on the Small Wide platform, a base that is also used in an extended form under the Jeep Compass, Jeep Commander and the Alfa Romeo Tonale (and Dodge Hornet).

Aries Rampage

Ram Rampage (1982-1984).

According to Ram, it is not the first time that it has used the Rampage model name, but that is not entirely true. There was indeed a pickup named Rampage before, but it was a Dodge. That Dodge Rampage was only sold for a few years and was also listed as a Plymouth Scamp in the American price lists for one year.

Once on the market in South America, the Ram Rampage will not only face its peers, but also the new Chevrolet Montana. The Ram Rampage may also be available in the United States. After all, the model in test suit has already surfaced there. In the United States, the Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz are possible competitors.
