Harley-Davidson has temporarily halted production at its Pennsylvania plant due to supply problems from a supplier. Harley expects to resume production this week.
It is the second time in two years that Harley has had to temporarily halt production due to supply problems from a supplier. In 2022, Harley had to shut down the same factory in York, Pennsylvania.
At the time, Harley said it took the measure as a precaution and that the decision was based on information provided by supplier Harley that a particular part may not meet Harley’s quality requirements. Harley officials later said the part in question was a brake line.
Once again, Harley says the production shutdown is due to problems at a supplier, but again no one is saying what the real problem is. The only thing that has been announced is that a factory with about 1,000 employees has been shut down. And that production is expected to resume this week.
