Apple showed the latest version of iOS during WWDC 2023 and many apps will receive an update. Here are the new features of the Notes app coming in iOS 17.
Notes in iOS 17: These are the new features
In iOS 17, the Notes app gets at least two major features. With the new options you can immediately edit documents that you have scanned in the app. You can also link from a note to another note. We show you how both functions work!
1. Scan and edit documents
You could already scan documents with the Notes app. That was very easy by pointing your camera at the document. You can still do that in iOS 17, but Notes has now given this option an extra function.
For example, you can now do more than just digitize a PDF or scan of, for example, a presentation or an important document. It is possible to annotate the document immediately. You do this by following the steps below.
Scan and edit documents in Notes
- Open the Notes app and tap the button in the bottom right to create a new note;
- Tap the camera icon and choose ‘Scan documents’;
- Point your iPhone at the document you want to scan and make sure it fits completely into the frame;
- Notes automatically creates an image as a scan;
- Tap ‘Save’ to save the scan;
- Choose the icon with the pen at the bottom and adjust the document as desired;
- Tap Done to save the document.
Link notes together
You can also link different Notes in iOS 17. Then it is possible to tap on a link and immediately open another note, just like you open a new page on a website. We show you how to set it up.
- Open a note in which you want to create a link to another note;
- Press and hold your finger on an empty spot and release your finger;
- Choose ‘Add link’;
- Find the Note by typing part of its name;
- Tap the correct note under ‘Link to note’;
- Adjust the name for the link if necessary;
- Then tap on ‘Done’.
The note you just selected will appear as a link in your note. Do you tap this? Then the other note will be opened right away.
