Chevrolet Traverse: large SUV with even greater relevance

In its home country of the United States, Chevrolet only supplies a handful of passenger cars that it does not classify as a crossover or SUV: pick-ups Colorado and Silvarado, sedan Malibu and the Camaro and Corvette. It also supplies the electric Bolt EV and Bolt EUV and the Trax, Trailblazer, Equinox, Blazer, Traverse, Tahoe and Suburban. After the Tahoe and the Suburban, the Traverse is Chevrolet’s largest SUV. The outgoing model has been around since 2017, went under the knife in 2020 and is now presented in a completely new form.

Chevrolet Traverse (new)

Chevrolet sold more than 96,000 units of the Traverse in the United States last year. Quite a number and enough to be Chevrolet’s best-selling SUV after the Equinox. However, there were about 17 percent less than in 2021. However, the Traverse only has to tolerate smaller SUVs and crossovers. To give sales a boost, Chevrolet is now introducing a completely new Traverse. Infused with Chevy’s latest design language, the three-row SUV features a massive grille and two-tier lighting that visually approaches the Silverado and Suburban. The SUV is also available for the first time in an adventurous-looking version called Z71. You can recognize this variant by its skid plates, it has a slightly larger ground clearance and comes standard with off-road tires. The Traverse RS is the sportier, sportier flavor of the SUV.

In the also completely new interior, Chevrolet places a gigantic 17.7-inch infotainment screen and a digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 11 inches. The selector lever of the automatic transmission moves from the center tunnel to the steering column. The 3.6 of the previous Traverse is replaced by a new 2.5 four-cylinder with turbo, a machine that produces 320 hp and 430 Nm. Chevrolet fills the Traverse with active and passive safety systems, including the standard Super Cruise.

Chevrolet Equinox (China)

Equinox

The Chevrolet Equinox is a size smaller than the Traverse. This is the absolute SUV stunner from Chevy. Last year it delivered no fewer than 212,072 copies. With its birth year 2016, the Equinox will last a year longer than the recently replaced Traverse and was last facelifted in 2020. We found the first pictures of the new Equinox in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. It may also come to the United States in that form. It measures 4.65 meters in length and is therefore a clear size smaller than the Traverse. Incidentally, Chevrolet has already presented an electric Equinox: the Equinox EV. That electric SUV and the new Equinox with internal combustion engines will likely run side by side in the Chevy lineup, as will the Silverado and Silverado EV, for example.
