Size smaller, but certainly not small

Anyone who said about ten to twenty years ago that Cadillac would focus on electric cars and that some of them would become SUV-like was undoubtedly not taken seriously. The reality is now really like that. We already know two electric Cadillacs and a third will soon be added. This is the Cadillac Optiq.
The Cadillac Optiq that we can show you in these photos has not yet been officially unveiled. After all, we have turned up the plates of the car from the most recent publication in the database of the Chinese Ministry of Transport and Information Technology. The plates go hand in hand with the initial information about the car. For example, we know that the Cadillac Optiq is 4.82 meters long and has a wheelbase of 2.95 meters. This makes it a size smaller than the 5-meter-long Lyriq, Cadillac’s first electric SUV, by a few mm. However, the Optiq probably shares its Ultium platform with the Lyriq, which also makes it a technical brother of the Celestiq.
The electric SUV weighing 2,130 to 2,220 kilos will be available with 204 hp and 245 hp electric motors and has a top speed of 180 km / h regardless of the engine version. Within the Caddy ranks, the Cadillac Optiq more or less functions as an electric alternative to the XT5. Will the Optiq also be marketed in the United States? That could very well be. In any case, the Optiq that we are serving you now has electric motors from General Motors’ Chinese partnership SAIC-GM.
