Ultimate lossless earbuds
The major advantage of the Questyle NHB12 is inseparable from the main disadvantage. With the big advantage we obviously mean the lossless audio, with which you can enjoy the full sound quality of Apple Music. But lossless audio is not possible via bluetooth. And that means that these are wired earplugs.
The Questyle NHB12 are designed to deliver uncompromising lossless and hi-res audio up to 24-bit/192kHz. Thanks to the integrated DAC (Digital-to-Analog Converter) that bypasses the iPhone’s internal DAC, you get top-quality sound from Apple Music or, for example, Tidal.
Wired earbuds for lossless audio
The earbuds use a single dynamic driver in each earpiece, which is controlled by the integrated DAC and amplifier module. A single red light indicates that audio data is being processed at a frequency of 48 kHz or lower, a double red light indicates that lossless data is being processed above 48 kHz.
Audio signals over Bluetooth are compressed and do not have the bandwidth to fully process true lossless or hi-res audio files. Progress could be made as support for Qualcomm’s aptX Lossless audio codec is expanded, but it doesn’t seem to be happening right now. With wired headphones, resolutions ranging from 16-bit/44.1kHz (CD quality) to 24-bit/192kHz (Hi-Res Audio quality) are possible.
Made for Apple devices
The NHB12 are specially designed for iOS devices and connect via Apple’s Lightning port. They are not compatible with Android devices. When Apple launches the iPhone 15 with a USB-C port next month, the manufacturer promises a free upgrade of the lossless earbuds.
Kickstarter campaign has already been completed
The Kickstarter campaign of the NHB12 had to collect an amount of € 9158. An amount of no less than € 47,851 has already been raised. The final asking price is $299, but early adopters can save another $70.
