The majority of Dutch people consider parking costs to be disproportionate

Research by parking app EasyPark into parking costs in the Netherlands proves that you can also kick in wide open doors. What seems? The majority of Dutch people currently consider parking prices to be disproportionate.

Research among Dutch consumers conducted by research agency Norstat on behalf of EasyPark shows that 83 percent of respondents experience current parking costs as disproportionate. Not only on the street, but also in parking garages. The amount of parking costs appears to be the most frequently mentioned annoyance among respondents when it comes to parking in garages. In second place we find ‘too small/too tight parking spaces, followed by posts, columns or pillars that make parking in a parking garage less easy. Moreover, two-thirds of respondents indicate that they would park in parking garages more often if the costs were lower.

Are we just sour about parking garages? No. Nearly 60 percent of respondents indicate that parking garages contribute to a more pleasant street scene. 57 percent believe or think that they contribute to less traffic jams or traffic looking for parking spaces. More percentages and opinions: 47 percent of respondents believe that parking garages cause less irritation or ‘anger in traffic’, 41 percent believe that parking garages contribute to greater road safety and 34 percent believe that parking garages are better for the environment.

We are also not at all satisfied with the costs when it comes to on-street parking. The high parking costs are also mentioned most often as an annoyance, followed by having to search for a parking space for a long time or not being able to find a parking spot at all. Too small or cramped parking spaces appear to be the biggest annoyance.
